After a week break from the league game, Schwarz Star finally came up against FC Evo, who won 1-0 by a technical default in the previous game. With few players unable to play due to injuries, Coach Kenneth made a bold move by placing Razmy as a lone striker with the 4-1-4-1 formation.

At 3pm sharp, the game started with Evo FC only with 9 players. SS were able to keep up with their normal game of possession and creating tension for Evo FC.

At about 20 minutes, Razmy strikes with a lob after a quickpass from Reggie, resulting in a goal. That fired up the team. Razmy managed to put the Falcons in an advantage by scoring the 2nd goal, again lobbing over Evo’s GK with a goalkick from Yun.

Just before the half time, Evo FC, now with 11 players, however managed to narrow the scoreboard after scoring from a free kick.

The 2nd half started with Evo FC playing more possession. On the other end, SS was having a hard time composing and getting back on track. This gave a chance for Evo FC to whack the ball into the net, leveling the score line.

With few minutes left, SS secured a free kick when one of Evo’s player did a nasty tackle on Farhan, resulting him with a Red card. The third goal was netted when Azam tapped the ball in after opposition’s goalkeeper failed to hold on to Kelvin shot after it was fired straight at him.

The game was eventually won 3-2 by Schwarz Star FC and players will be aiming for victory in the few games to come.

Final Score:

Schwarz Star 3 – 2 FC Evo

Scorers:

Razmy (2), Azam

Match Report – Schwarz Star vs Newton Heath

Weather: Overcast

Location: Marsiling Secondary School

Opponent: Newton Heath

The match got off to a start with Schwarz Star kicking off. Schwarz Star passed the ball confidently for almost 5 minutes before losing possession. A quick ball from SS midfield found Fiee momentarily free. With a quick glance, Fiee passed the ball back to the middle. Confidence ooze from the boys in golden yellow just by looking at the way the ball was passed.

The opponents really except with 2 or 3 forays down the flanks cleverly intercepted by our full backs. Tackles flew from all directions. Cards were aplenty. 15 minutes passed and SS won a freekick at the far side halfway to the opponent’s goal. With a deft chip, Indian Thava, sent the ball to the opponent’s near post. With the keeper rooted, no SS player was there to capitalize on the glorious opportunity. Razmy received a yellow card for a foul which even the spectators did not approve. The game came and went with Razmy trying from distance only to see the ball sail over the cross bar.

A through ball found Kevin running into space, offside, says the Referee, “Oh rubbish” claim SS players. With a harmless looking pass to the right flank, the opponents whipped in a cross early. Too close to the goal, but Keeper, Yun, could only push it with his fingers towards his far post. A lurking opponent grabbed the opportunity with both hands by guiding the ball into SS net.

Restart after 25 minutes. SS continue to play their usual possession game. You will never know that SS was trailing by a goal. A quick 1 – 2 between and Kevin put Azam into space on the right flank. A beautiful cross headed away by the opponent. The game was all about SS passing and possession. A quick release by Razmy in the middle and Siva is on his way to the opponent’s goal. But wait, a sliding tackle, the ball was rolling out to the byeline. What’s the decision? Referee pointed to the spot. Penalty!! Kudos to Siva who did not resort to simulation. He was fouled just inside the penalty box. Razmy placed the ball on the spot. Total silence from both sets of supporters. Goal!!! Game on.

The ball came and went with both teams not able to produce the defence splitting pass or the dangerous crosses. Half-time.

The match restarted with Newton Heath kicking off the second half. Again Newton Heath hardly threaten an already seasoned SS defence and coupled with the presence of SS “Russian Tank”, Norman, SS managed to keep the opponents at bay. Norman managed to dispossessed the opponent and passed to a waiting Remi. Remi found Fiee idling in a corner. With a long searching ball, Fiee found Razmy at the flank. With searing speed, Razmy almost tore the artificial turf into shreds cutting left, cutting right and beating 2 opponents. A low driven cross, Siva was on hand to guide the ball into the net. Goal!!!

With barely 20 minutes to play, SS was still passing and possessing the ball. Looking to pass the ball into space and attempting to threaten the opponent’s goal. Suddenly, the opponents become very lively. Being a goal down, the opponents rallied by launching waves of attacks down their left flank. Amir was on hand to contain many a runs down the near flank. A brilliant sliding tackle from our ever reliable Taufiq cut out a potentially dangerous through ball, resulting in a corner to the opponent. The taker floated a beautiful ball into the 18 yard box. A free header! Off the crossbar and the post. A goal kick to SS. Dangerous defending by SS cursed the Coach by the sideline

Both sides continue to threaten with runs down the flanks and middle of the park. SS was holding out nervously for the last 15 minutes. The Coach was pacing up and down the touchline. Wondering what’s on his mind. Is he going to go all out to get another goal or is he going to close shop and wait for the fat lady to sing? Your guess is as good as mine.

Newton Heath were reduced to taking long shots at goal from distance, which stand-in keeper, credit to Yun managed to hold on. With the clock running down, the match petered out. Final score: Schwarz Star 2 Newton Heath 1.

Schwarz Star faced EFL Premier Division team Credit Suisse for the 1st time. Schwarz Star is having a healthy selection of players from – Satnam, Ishak, Amir, Halim, Brandon, Leonie, Weiyang, Remi, RongShan, Norman, Chris, Ernest, Jack, Leon, Yen, Kevin, Nasri, Wesley and Rafiq. Yun is taking charge of the game as assigned by Coach Kenneth. Senior players Jason, Alfie, Reggie and Whye Ming came down to give thier absolute support.

In the 1st half, Schwarz Star were holding the game well from the back. GK Wesley had a few brilliant saves to deny the opponents from scoring, Defenders kept their line. Schwars Star just lacks the catalyst to push for attacks. Ended the 1st half goalless.

In the 2nd half, the intensity of the game remains unchanged. Kevin tried some long shots but was not enough to test the keeper. Around the 58th min, Schwarz Star were 1-0 down from a corner where a Credit Suisse player brilliantly chested the ball and volley it pass Rafiq’s hands.

Schwars Star morale was still up and were trying to bring the game back. The addition of Yun in the final 20mins added sparks for the team. Schwarz Star started its attacking flow and have multiple shots but none were converted. Young Star Ernest had some brilliant display of skills down the right flank playing out Suisse’s defenders which were twice the size of him. 2.30pm at Deyi Secondary, SS players arrived one after another. Good to see that discipline level has increased, players coming early for pre match preparation. The only setback was that the gate was locked and we are not able to get in till 5mins before 3pm. This game was also Captain Adrian’s testimonial match as he will be leaving for Australia.

Adrian led some runs and by 3.15pm the Ref was calling both teams to be on the pitch. KICK OFF! Prrwweeee! (Leonie’s trademark) Schwarz Star start the ball rolling. Coach Kenneth made a bold move by placing last season’s top scorer Siva partnering Thava as CB. Minutes into the game, both teams were pressing hard. SS’s style of possessive play were not able to carried out as TY’s players were on their toes, tackling every single ball leaving no chance for open play.

The first goal came around 25mins for TY, a free kick yards after the halfway line landed just outside the 6 yard box letting an unmarked player easily head the floating ball into the net. Ten minutes later, a second blow hit SS as another goal was scored by TY.

2nd half. SS had a new objective by Coach KK. To score 3 goals thereafter park the bus. 65mins into game. There was no threat to TY’s keeper only until a 1v1 for Faishah to shoot the ball at the keeper. TY’s style of L…o….n….g  Ball really frustrates SS as SS made no progress since the half time switches. 20mins left, KK calls upon Yun and Shafiq from the bench, intending to push for attacks. Minutes after the switch, Azam won a penalty as he was tripped in the box. Razmy stepped foward and drives the ball into the net. Morale was high now for SS. SS is having successive attacks, but only for Yun to miss a tremendous through pass by Syafiq. 5 mins before the final whistle, a free kick was awarded near the halfway line for SS. Thava pumped the ball high up straight at the goal, Razmy with a backheader converted his second and equalises the game for SS. SS continues to push for a 3rd but time was limited and there goes the FT whistle. SS now climbs to second of the table 3 pts behind the leader Happy Feet which SS will face on their next trip to the North.

Match Report – SSFC vs Hibernians United

11.02.09

The match started off at 3.05 pm with Yun in Goal, Fiee, Weiyang, Taufiq & Ishak defending, Adrian spraying the passes to Syafiq, Razmy, Isa, Azam and Siva at the top of the diamond. Reggie, Farhan and Leonie were sitting at the sides watching.

SSFC played their normal game of possession and passing and penetrated the Hibernians time and again. Siva tried to convert a cross with a header at the 8th minute which went over the bar. The Hibs keeper looked relieved. SSFC changed to a more attacking 4-4-2 formation and continued to pass the ball in the Hibs half and peppered their goal with shots. The Hibs finally managed to penetrate the SSFC defence on the right flank at around the 15th minute. A harmless looking cross with no Hibernians in the penalty box, a mixed up between the keeper and the defender resulted in an own goal.

Not to be defeated, SSFC continued to play possession passing game. A corner awarded to SSFC 2 minutes after the re-start resulted in a goal, headed in by Siva. 1-1. SSFC continued to pass past their opponents and rained their goal with shots. At half time, the score stands at 1-1.

The 2nd half started with SSFC with more attacking impetuous. The full backs pushed forward on overlapping runs, shots from outside the penalty box failed to result in any goal. Farhan tried to place his shot within minutes of each other. The shot were beautifully placed but just wide of each post. A mad 5 minutes at the 65 minute mark saw SSFC gain a 2 goal advantage. A sweeping move by SSFC found Adrian in space and time. With a wicked shot, he beat the keeper, 2-1 to SSFC. A goal mouth melee saw Taufig toe poked a loose ball to bring the score 3-1.

Not wanting to disrupt the flow of the game, Coach decided not to change the formation nor sub any players. SSFC defended stoutly against the Hibs attacks by throwing bodies behind the goal. At the 75th minute, SSFC lost the ball at the half way line, the Hibs brought the ball down their right and punted in a cross which resulted in another goal mouth melee this time the SSFC goal. A cross from the near to the far post, a powerful volley, which the keeper will never have any chance, GOAL! 3-2. Game On! The Hibs stands a fighting chance to gain a precious point and SSFC stand to lose 2 points.

With both sides not being able to muster any shot at goal for the last 5 nervy minutes, the match ended 3-2 in favour of SSFC, which bring them to 3rd on the league table.
