After finishing bottom of the league, the Falcons will play in Division 2 next season. To avoid another disappointment in the new season, Coach Jason and the team has embarked on an early pre-season in preparation of their second season. New players have been drafted into the team and hopefully will feature regularly in the upcoming season.

They started off the pre-season with a 2-2 draw against Jotos FC last weekend. And in their previous match, they were beaten 2-1 to an unnamed team comprising of Nepalese youngsters. Yen scoring the Falcon’s solitary goal with a header after the Falcon’s great work down the right flank off a free kick. Schwarz Star FC unceremoniously dropped 3 points, potentially points that could have saved them from relegation. The Falcons were cruising to a two goals advantage after 60 minutes of play, courtesy of a brace from Alfie, one on each half. But a disastrous 20 minutes period saw them concede 3 goals and ultimately, victory. The defeat meant that the Falcons dropped two places down in the league table into one of two relegation spots. The two teams below them, Star CF & AJPL FC, took full advantage of the Falcon’s slip-up by winning their respective matches.

The Falcons must win in their last match of the league this Saturday and hope that AJPL FC & Star CF lose their remaining matches to have any chance of securing survival. The final match will be against VNPNUS, a team which spanked the Falcons 4-0 in the first round of matches. It’s do-or-die time for the Falcons and it’s all going down this Saturday at Yio Chu Kang Secondary pitch.

First signing of the season

Vineet is Schwarz Star’s 1st signing for the season and the Star Times caught up with him recently at one of the friendly games..
First of all Vineet, on behalf of our fans , welcome to Schwarz Star Football Club…how have you been? How did your affiliation with Schwarz Star FC come about?
Thank you very much for the invitation. I’m highly obliged to be a part of this team.
I think Schwarz Star FC was more like an accident waiting to happen, in a good way that is. I really don’t remember how I got in touch with Brandon, but I knew that I was getting in to something really exciting. The rest is just history. I was really happy about the whole prospect of joining a professional team, and was looking forward just to play football.
2) You have played a few games for the team- how impressed have you been with your new manager/coaches in just a short space of time?
The team is a great bunch of young players, young manager and coaches. It’s fun to be around the guys, who pass on good encouragement from time to time. It’s good to have so much energy around, and even more fun to put that all on the field and in the game.
3) What do you think you can bring to the team and how much can you improve here?
I intend to put in all my abilities for the cause of the team. But I guess as a defensive player, it’s important that we as a team, keep a clean sheet. That would be my aim for the team. I know as time progresses and as I play more and more matches, there would be much more co-ordination and gelling with the team, which will have more of my involvement.
4) How excited are you as you prepare to start your Schwarz Star FC journey?
I’m glad that I could be a part of the pre season matches and I’m very eager to play in the new season. I’m also looking forward to working on my fitness levels. I know this would be my first year with the team, nevertheless, I’m looking to top the table this year around, and I believe, with the wealth of talent we have, the future definitely looks promising.
5) What’s your message to the Schwarz Star supporters?
With everyone working hard on their performances and individual ability, this year we are looking to hit the top of the table. Everyone has been putting in a lot, from the coaches, to the managers and most of all, the players. So, to all our supporters….. Watch out for us, you won’t be disappointed!

Falcons crashed to heavy defeat

The Falcons crashed to a 2-5 defeat against AJPL in a match many would have expected them to win. The previous time these two teams met, SSFC cruised to a 4-1 victory so this defeat will definitely come as a shock to the team.

Things got off to a bad start when the Falcons conceded a soft goal within the first 20 minutes of play. It got from bad to worse when two more unfortunate goals were conceded, the first, an own goal by Leonie and the second, off a free kick when the SSFC’s defence went to sleep. The Falcons went into the break 3 goals down.

In the 2nd half, AJPL went on to score 2 more goals after the kick-off. With a heavy 5 goals deficit to overturn, the Falcons threw caution to the wind and started having more possession and were creating the better chances. They were duly rewarded when Jason pounced on a loose ball after a corner kick taken by Andy created havoc in the AJPL six yard box. With the clock running down, the Falcons had numerous chances to score more goals when Yen, Kok Hui & Jason missed golden chances to bring the deficit down. There was time though for one more goal and it was admittedly the goal of the match. Kevin, playing as a centre back at this point of the match, picked up the ball in the centre circle and floated a perfect ball across the field for the onrushing Leslie who took down the ball fluidly, turning a defender before smashing the ball past the goalkeeper. The 2 goals were mere consolation though as AJPL ran out victors.

SSFC will play Zespol FC in their next D2D fixture this coming 7th of August.
