Interview with Amir

> > >Posted by
Hi Amir, how have you been?
Its been almost 4months plus since you last played a competitive game after your injury from the game against Hibs..How is your knee injury been so far?

It’s since 24 Oct 09, to be exact. I remember it so well because it’s my dads birthday. So imagine having to spend your fathers’ birthday in the Emergency Ward. HAHA. The knee’s been good eversince but its not ready for league matches. Playing in the league needs aggression and i doubt my knee can take those kind of aggression. I never felt so happy being able to run eversince i damaged my ligaments.
It must be fustrating being out for so long, and seeing your team-mates playing/training on the field, what have u been doing to maintain your fitness?

It has been really frustrating to be out on the nursing table for so long. I mean, this is part and parcel of football. The doctor actually gave me a period of 6 to 8 months to playing football. I will occasionally have football games with my family at Fico, and this is where i get all basics polished back. Occasional jogs ans swims as well. Conditioning too. However, i’ve not been exercising because the knee actuall swell up for the past two weeks. It’s okay now though.
From a spectator view , what’s your take on the current season in the EFL so far and what areas should be improved?

We had a relatively good start to the season and i think we lost a few games and from there we lost our momentum. Had a few changes to the squad from last season. Namely Azri in the middle of the park. We need a fix goalkeeper, someone we can really rely on. Every great team is build on a solid goalkeeper. We have very physical opponents and at times, we fear them. I think we should add more aggression in our play.
Guess it must be on everyones’ lips as to when you would be back in action for Schwarz Star FC..so what’s your estimated date of return to competitive action?

Haha! I can tell you it really sucks to know that you’re needed in the team but you can not contribute a thing. It’s really nice to see both Coaches and Brandon not allowing me to play or train. It shows that they care about their players well being. Estimated date of return would definitely be for next season. Like everyone, I have to work my way up from scratch, it sucks, it really do. You guys should interview Ivan and see whether he shares my sentiments. Haha!
On behalf of everyone from the media and fanclub,we would like to wish you a speedy recovery and will be looking forward to seeing you on the field soon

Player Interview: Yen

08.12.09

> > >Posted by
schwarzstarfc.com recently caught up with Yen, the team’s top goalscorer in the EFL Cup, and he found time to grant us an interview.
1) Hi Yen, how have you been? In the recent EFL Cup Tournament, you were the top scorer for SSFC with 3 goals in 3 games during the qualifying stages. What were your thoughts on being the top scorer?

Hi, I am doing fine. It feels nice to be the top scorer for the cup tournament for the first time in my life, but it would have been better if we can make it further in the cup competition and won the trophy. Also, if I manage to do my part in every game, I would be satisfied even if I didn’t score any goals. The three goals were a result of great teamwork from the team, and I like to thank all of them for making the chances for me to score. I would also like to thank Coach Jason for giving me the opportunity to play as a striker and put his trust on me. Without them, I wouldn’t have gotten the chance to score these 3 goals.
2) How did your affiliation with SSFC come about and what’s your take on the current management of the team so far, in terms of administrative and training?

I got to know of SSFC through my friend, Satnam. He introduced me this team by telling me that this team is a rather organised team, so I decided to join this team. As I said earlier, this team is very organised, in terms of management, administrative, and every other areas that you can think of. Be it training sessions, team outing, team bonding, I really enjoyed it. It’s a team where you can really enjoy yourself when playing football. I think that’s why SSFC have more than 50 players, as it proves that SSFC is really a great football club.
3) With 2 coaches, Jason and Kenneth, in the team, and having trained under both coaches, what do you think of their style and approaches when it comes to training sessions?

Coach Kenneth is the reason why I stay in SSFC and also why I have never thought of leaving the club. What he has taught the team every Sunday makes me feel that I am not wasting my time, unlike some other team that I used to play for. The ridiculous coach, who is also the team captain, placed a ball in the middle and asked both players to run towards the ball and kick the ball together at the same time. This actually caused my friend to injure his leg. That is really time wasting and stupid. Back to the question, coach Kenneth is good at tactics, strategy, knowing when to make a substitution and figuring out who should play at which position and why. Sometimes, he jokingly claims that the team won the game because of him, but sometimes I actually agree because his decision making and the substitutions made by him led the team to victory.
Based on what I observed during training and matches, Coach Jason, our new coach, is good at spotting problems and solving it. The training sessions in the past few weeks was quite new and interesting. I am impressed with his style of coaching in areas like warming up, ball receiving, passing and off the ball movement. In all,  I think SSFC can call themselves lucky to have them as coaches.
4) You have been part of SSFC for slightly more than 2 years now? What do you think of the progress you’ve made so far in your time with SSFC?

I have been in SSFC for 2 years and I think my progress is quite slow, I think I am less motivated, less competitive as compared to others. Also, I am not really an ambitious player, which really slow my progress down a lot. However, I’ve learned a lot over the past two years. I learned how to play football, which I think it’s the most important thing to learn. Also, I am happy that I am finally able to contribute to SSFC’s development, even though we weren’t able to qualify for the cup game. However, I am still happy I managed to do something at least.
5) You have played in both the league and competitive teams during the 2 years you’ve spent in SSFC. Do you think there is a stark contrast in the standards of both teams, and in what way are they different?

Yes, I think there are differences. The league team consists of players with better basic individual skills, better decision making, which actually allow them to play possession football and be a much more organised team. They also have better team chemistry, allowing them to be able to anticipate each other’s next move and work together when defending or attacking. The competitive team, based on what I have observed, are lacking in their basic skills, fitness and decision making. These are the main difference between the league and competitive team in my opinion.
6) In the next 5 years, what do you aim to achieve with SSFC and what would you like in terms of the development or progression of SSFC ?

I was hoping that I could play a few games for the league team and lead them to victory, nothing much. Looking back at SSFC when I first joined two years back, the team has improved a lot. From a bunch of ball-chasing players, the team now knows how to hold the ball to keep possession, playing on the flanks, crossing and finishing. It is even more impressive that this is achieved despite having less than 52 days to play together as a team in 2 years. Therefore, I dare to say that this team is already doing great and they will eventually turn professional in the future. I would like to see SSFC play as a professional team one day, and challenge the Singapore national team and win against them. That’s what I would like to see over the next 5 years. It may be too ambitious, but that’s how world champions become world champions, be ambitious and dream big.

Interview with Isa(Upcoming Youngster)

> > >Posted by
1) How did your relationship with Schwarz Star FC start? What was it that attracted you to stay on with Schwarz Star FC?
Well i would say that everything comes with a little luck, and so does my encounter with Schwarz Star FC. May 2008 i got to know one of my classmates’ boyfriend and from him i found out a sunday football club called Schwarz Star FC. At that time i was the 2nd choice goalkeeper of my school team so in order to gain more match experience i was just looking for any club to play for, but i was lucky i found SSFC because it is the turning point of my football career. SSFC impressed me by the way it is run, in other words the management style, the spirit level, the bonds between teammates of different races, and the professional behaviour displayed by all players.
2) At the age of 18, how ambitious are you? Is it a goal to come here and make sure you win something?
Im already 18 and though it is no longer a young age to start football but i still have five years of competitive football in university ahead, as well as a never-ending amateur football life waiting for me. For me football is a learning road that i will never reach the end, so i just got to learn as much as i can along the way, and hence im able to always keep my spirit at its best for all trainings and matches.
Yes people do say at times that winning isnt everything in football, but i would like to clarify that it is the main force that drives me through the uneven road of learning. You cannot expect yourself performing well in a match when u come in with a mentality to relax and do not care about result. Tell yourself that you will win, and you stand a 50% chance of winning the game already. And at the end of the day the winner is the one who is remembered so to repay what SSFC has done for me, i always come into games with the mentality of winning for the team for my teammates and lastly for myself.
3) How would describe your own style of play?
My own style of play has changed a lot along the process of learning of football. When i first started in junior college, fitness was the top priority due to the nature of the competition, so i was basically a very physical and aggressive and even sometimes very dirty player. But gradually coaches (my school coach Mr. Arasu and currently Mr. Kenneth Kwan) teaches me what football really means and why good runners or weight-lifters are not necessarily good football players, because they have not learned the skills and more importantly how to think while playing football. Since then i have given up the brute strength style and pick up a more elegant and smarter style of football. Of course when needed hard tackles still need to be executed.

4) How do u find the management of the team so far in terms of training and admin matters?
As i mentioned above i was impressed by the professional display of the team management put up by an amateur club. Generally the management is good as the club is run by enthusiastic and passionate players like Brandon, Leonie, Kevin, Yun… This makes all the processes that need to be done very quick and time-effecient. Money issue is clear and transparent thus gaining trust from all players. In terms of training, i must say it is awesome. The fact that an amateur football club has an additional sunday training beside a saturday match is already a differentiating factor that make us stand out from all other clubs of the same level. The commitment of coach Kenneth as well as a very good attendance and attitude during training raise the standard of the team week by week. Here we do not see good players slack off or scolding players who are not as good, nor do we see cliques within the team. Instead seniors players try their best to teach the newbies, and players of all races mixing very well with each other. Myself being a vietnamese do not find it strange or uneasy and lost within the team. Infact the help of all senior players played a very important part in developing me into player of my current standard. And im very grateful for that.
5) Where do u see yourself and Schwarz Star FC say..5 years from now?

In five years from now, i want to emphasize that it is very important for everyone to stay committed before we can hope for something good. Imagine for 5 years the current squad plays week in week out, the standard of technique and more importantly the level of understanding will improve tremendously. We will become a very united squad and it will be very hard to beat us. We will be the fear for our opponents. If the effort put in by all members of the team stays the same, i can confidently hope for a slot for us in National Football League division 1 or similar standard. S-league will be a bit too optimistic for 5 – year future but i would think that while we strive for better standing in the domestic amateur football society, it is more important to strengthen the bond between players, to make training fun and enjoyable for everyone and a place to make new friends. With that good players will be attracted to us and our future will definitely be a wonderful one.
Thank you for the interview.

Interview with SSFC Oldie.Helmizan

17.10.09

> > >Posted by
1) Hi Helmi, you are part of the oldies group which kick started Schwarz Star FC..
How did you come to know about Schwarz Star FC?

Well its was quite accidental actually…I was playing for a club in the Espzen League, a bunch of former SP students…I feel there is no unity in the team, so I decided to look for a club in Socialsoccer.com
I always want to be apart of a club where I can feel at ease like a family.
That is when I come across this team that is looking for players to play Sunday soccer.
I thought this is something new for me, because I usually were invited by words of mouth by friends and family.
Now I’m venturing to local football alone.

2) You have played across various postions from full back to CM to winger roles..which is your most preferred postion and why so?

Well I have so many preferred position if ask me.
I started playing football as a Left & Right Back, but after my skills develop, I play as a Winger.
They say as you grow older, you can easily adapt to the position you playing in.
For me, that is the case, as a fullback I know my main responsiblities is to defend and as a winger I should be sending in crosses and create goal chances.
So in any position I play, I put every knowledge I have to good use.

3) In your 5years with Schwarz Star FC..what are the transitions you have seen so far during these 5 years..in terms of training or management.

Well as part of the pioneers of the club, no doubt the difference is so huge.
Look at it this way when we started out other clubs can thrash us by double digits…
We use to train near a construction site at Marina, the field was horrible but we came together to play football nonetheless.
Now we are training at Falcons Arena….
We use to play without a coach and I can remember there was this time I was appointed as the club trainer.
I tried my best to put every knowledge I have in the game….but we need a man who really have the experience and knowledge of both practical & theory of football.
We thought we have him, when Coach Gan was appointed….but we were going nowhere. He was so uptight and more of a school teacher.
Then comes Coach Kenneth and this guy here I must salute cause he does this volunteerly.
That is what I call passion.
He showed us purpose to reach our ambitions.
He just lay the plans and for us as players, we have to follow and learn the philosophy of football that he teaches to reach our ambitions.
The Coach change our preception of football totally.
We are now a Team, a Family, United as one with one Goal.
Other Teams & Clubs starting to take notice and fear us….We are the Super Falcons, we will soar high up there at the end of the day.

4) During your 5 years together with SSFC…its considered a really long time to stay on with the same team..Players have come and gone..but what was it that made you stay on in SSFC till this very day?

Since day one when I started to train with Schwarz Star Football Club, there was no turning back.
Yes this team don’t even have a name and I can see something special as I went for Sunday kick about with Brandon, Jing Xiang, Scholes and Kevin back then.
I was welcome like a part of the family no doubt they even let me help them come up with the Club Name, Logo (emblem) and our first website was even done by me.
That was when my passion for Schwarz Star FC stuck to my heart eversince, it was the feeling of being apart of a Family.
So far, the brothers whom I play with since day one have been a major reason of me to stay with the club, especially our Club Manager, Brandon Sng.
I felt leaving this club will be a waste of my passion for football….why would I want to leave a club that I love (damn I even argue with my ex-fiancee and current girlfriend because of this club I’m passionately in love with)
All the downfall, glories and memories, how can you replace that?
Especially the friendship and brotherhood we developed all this years can never be replaced with money or anything in this world.

5) What do you wish to see in the next 5 years in terms of your own development and also SSFC development?

Realistically I want Schwarz Star Football Club to be amongst the best clubs in Singapore Amatuer Scene.
I truly believe we can bag a few Cup Medals under our belt in this five years to come.
Then we can talk about the next Level, The National Football League.

6) What’s your ultimate wish for Schwarz Star FC?
My only wish no matter what ambitions we have set for the next 5-10 years is, for the younger generations of the Super Falcons to carry the flag all the way indefinitely. I would want them to realise this Club not only as a Football Club they play in but also a Culture & Community in their generation.
Super Falcons, We will fly high, trust me…..

Interview with SSFC Gentle Giant..Siva

07.09.09

> > >Posted by
Hi Siva…
1) How have u been so far? you have been the chief striker for SSFC since your arrival…uahd a barren and broke it recently.. How did it feel to have that burden lifted from you?

Well other than nursing that damn swollen shin, I been pretty good lately. I dont really see myself as the chief striker for SSFC because technically there are a few other competent strikers in the team. And in the previous game, it was a huge relief to finally break the goal drought, and even sweeter that it turned out to be the winning goal.

2) You have played under other teams ..most notable under PN Sivaji(Balestier)…how do you translate your style of play at Balestier to Schwarz Star FC?

Well I have trained under a few coaches other than Sivaji, I’ve also trained under former national coach Vincent Subramaniam and the style of play in these teams, including Balestier are much more technical. There’s also a higher priority towards fitness, not all training sessions require us to be on the field, and some sessions start with fitness training and you become so conked out, by the time you go to the field, your legs become jelly. The coaches there are also much more “vocal”. Make one little mistake and they will be roaring at you all the way so it really is a test of your resolve and your passion. I know a few players who gave up halfway. Technically i left because at that time, i was doing my O levels and i felt that playing soccer professionally wasn’t really a viable option…not in Singapore at least.

My style of play at Balestier or any other team for that matter was pretty different compared to Schwarz Star because, simply put, the level of fitness and discipline there was way higher than whats expected of us, to the point where it almost made soccer feel like work. In Schwarz Star it’s different because things are a little more light-hearted and our coach isn’t exactly one who will shout at every little thing. So i really like the way SSFC works.?

3) You were also part of Schwarz Star FC history when you and afew others were invovled in the Kallang Roar Movie..how was it like to feel like a “superstar”….and how did the nick Precious came about?

Haha how do you equate that to being a superstar? It was great being chosen but i hated the fact that i had to play a stereotypical role….yeah throw in a dark-skinned guy, put on a fake moustache on him and voila. you got yourself another dark-skinned indian guy.?

The entire filming experience was good, and relevant to me because that’s the industry i’ll be working in anyway. But more interestingly, it was also a crash course on goalkeeping. If you all watched the movie, or at least the trailer, you would have seen this slow-motion shot of me diving full length to try and stop that corner kick? Yeah, that took me 28 takes. I went home feeling sore as hell, all over my body.

As for the nick Precious….remember that stereotype thing i was talking about in the first line? Yeah, there you go.

4) If you were not a striker..what other postion do u see yourself in and why?

Well if i wasn’t a striker, i’d most probably play as an attacking midfielder. I?realized?i cannot play on the flanks. I probably have some symmetrical disorder or something, i must always be in the center. I did play as a center-back before but i hated it because I realized I tend to make really stupid mistakes over there, resulting in total disasters. So yeah, either striker or attacking mid.

5) Over the years that you have been with Schwarz Star FC..what do you think of its progression so far and how is the committee team managing the team so far?

I believe May 30th would officially be my 2nd year with SSFC. I’m glad to see the team has progressed rather rapidly over this past 2 years. Many new faces, some bringing in plenty of experience and technical expertise to our game. The most important thing though, is the fact that we are finally starting to play as a team and starting to win matches, or at least put up a fight. Gone are the days where we got walloped left, right and center by teams way better than us. I think if we get to play these teams again, we could genuinely put up a real fight and i’m glad that not only has the team progressed so well, so fast but also the fact that i’m a part of it.

The committee has also done a great job so far in managing the team and I feel that at the current rate we are going, we actually stand a chance in realising our potential and achieving our objectives.

6) Where do you see yourself and Schwarz Star FC in say..the next 5 years…

Well in the next 5 years, I’d probably be slightly busier as will everyone else but i feel that SSFC will continue to evolve, constantly getting new players, playing in tougher leagues. In fact i wouldn’t be surprised if we actually make it into the FAS Islandwide League by then.

7) What do u aim to achieve during your time with Schwarz Star FC?

Well first of all, I aim to continue to help the team achieve its objective and that is to play by our team’s philosophy and to do well in the respective competitions we take part in.

Secondly, as thick skin as it may sound, I’m aiming to make it 3 years in a row of being top-scorer for the team hahahaha.

Player Interview: Taufiq

23.08.09

> > >Posted by

Recently, schwarzstarfc.com caught up with our newly-appointed captain, Taufiq and had a short interview with him.

Q: Firstly, congratulations on your 2 Player of the Quarter awards which was chosen by Head Coach Kenneth. How did you feel after knowing that you are the 1st SSFC player to win 2 Player of the Quarter awards?

Firstly, I would like to thank our coach for noticing the capabilities that I have. Certainly, I feel delighted and over the moon and because this was very unexpected, it truly meant a lot to me. I also feel honoured as I will take these awards as something very meaningful in my life. And also to the team which is now bringing themselves up to a new level, the standard of all players will be raised and will definitely bring out the best of every player. As such, these kind of awards will be up for grabs and it will make the players show their true capabilities.

Q: You are the defensive rock of SSFC and as a defender, you do have the knack of whacking in some wonderful goals. How did your soccer affair with SSFC started?

I started with SSFC as a left full-back and I can still remember my centre-backs were the solid Iqbal and Marvin. I don’t really favour the position at first as i’m placed on my weaker foot. All I did was to give my very best in every training and matches. Till to the point, and I can’t remember when, I started to play as a centre-back knowing that this will be my position and no one can take away from me. Every match I went into, in my mind, I take it as if we are in a final. So mentality and objectives plays a part in every game. As for the goals, I love and enjoy scoring too. And why not?! A defender scoring for his team is no easy feat to be honest, and every goal is a memorable moment for me.

Q: You have been with the team for the past 3 years. What are the changes that you have seen during your time with SSFC and what do you think of Head Coach Kenneth coaching style?

The changes I can safely say is tremendous. That is only possible when we brought in our very own coach. Like most of licensed coaches out there, they are able to shape a team to a better one. To my point of view, Coach Kenneth
is helping the team progress, but how fast we are able to progress depends on how fast we are able to adapt to his style of coaching. As for now, we are able to implement what is being taught in training and put to good use in matches. Even those who do not understand it fully, applying just a portion of what is being taught to a match will make us a better than the opponents we are up against.

Q: What do you intend to achieve during your time in SSFC and in 5 years time, where do you think SSFC will be at?

I will be fighting and staying put in my position as long as i’m in SSFC. I know there are some players who want this position and I’ll be more than happy to take up the challenge. Realistically, i’m hoping SSFC can be competing  in known leagues in Singapore.

Q: Who is your inspiration, the one that you look up to in SSFC, and why so?

I have to say it’s Iqbal, a former solid centre-back in SSFC when I first came in. His encouragement and understanding of the art of defending made me a better full-back at that time.

Q: Do you believe given the right resources and luck that SSFC might one day challenge the big boys in say maybe the S-League?

Resources, yes of course we need that to be able to sustain in the high level league. Till the point where we are able to reach this level of competition, luck is out of the question. A team needs to work their way up and that hard work is what people normally rely on to reach such a stage. It will be a blissful moment to play in the bigger leagues, where a lot of Singapore citizens’ will be looking at us playing against the big guns.

Player Interview: Yun

02.06.09

> > >Posted by
Today, schwarzstarfc.com has caught up with a pioneer of Schwarz Star FC, Ching Zhi Yun Ian, better known to us as Yun. Having been one of the pioneers of Schwarz Star FC in its starting year, let’s see what he has to say in this interview.

1) Hi Yun. You are one of the pioneers of SSFC since 2004. What do you think of its development so far from the time you joined till now?

Thinking back the early days,  we had to travel to Marina to kick about on a pitch of raw field with tall grasses and mimosa. That’s “Passion” for soccer I should say. We developed from “nothing”.. Now we have our own home ground, coach and committee staff leading the team, consider remarkably well done for an amateur team.

2) You have played as a GK,CB,Winger,CM and even striker…so which is the position that you want to make your own and why?

I just discovered the supporting striker role to fit into the current team. I lack the composure and control to play in the center of the pack, I also tend to “drift”  from my position. By being up there, it minimizes the drifting factor and gives the team some good defending right from the top with my speed and aggression. I have yet to prove myself worthy of that position but soon it’ll come.

3) As the match coordinator for the team, what is your job like in the team? Maybe you can elaborate more on it?

As the title spells it, I arrange matches for the team. I also touch on administrative issues like player’s particulars, match records etc.

4) What would be your wildest dream for SSFC? It may or may not happen but what would you wish for SSFC to be? Maybe the next Manchester City with a multi-millionaire owner? It can be anything in your wildest fantasy.

Wildest Dream? Schwarz Star to play in the National Football League before I retire.

5) On a more serious note, where do you see SSFC from now till in say, year 2015? What would be happening during that time in SSFC?

Year 2015 would be a ideal year for us to progress to NFL. From now till 2015 we would have a few season to test ourselves in EFL. Hopefully we would get promoted after the 1st year in Div 1 and try to play our way up to top of Premier Division.

6) As part of of the senior committee member, how’s it like working with the rest of the committee like Leonie,Kenneth,Kevin,Brandon, who are all different in their own styles of doing things?

Basically we have the same goal and passion. That makes it easy for us to communicate. Only at times you have to stand the nagging from Brandon.

Interview with Schwarz Star’s Number 10(Fii)

20.05.09

> > >Posted by

Fii..Schwarz Star’s very own number 10..blessed with the grace to control the ball at his feet and delivering beautiful crosses..there was a time when school/work committments restricted Fii from playing and SSFC thought she will lose one of the players..fast forward 1 year on..Fii is back doing he does best..playing the beautiful game with SSFC..

1) Hi Fii…how have u been so far? Well you are wearing the most famous jersey number 10..many great players have won it..John Barnes, Maradona…how do you feel wearing the SSFC number 10?

Hi Brandon. Firstly it’s a great honour to have this interview with you and i thank you for giving me this chance. Well, i have been wearing number 10 since secondary school. When i first started playing for SSFC, i was given the number 13 instead. After which, we have a new set of jersey. Coach then gave me the number 10. It’s not just a honour given to me. It’s more to responsibility, commitment & dedication the team and i thank the Coach for giving me the trust.

2) Roll back the past 2 years plus..there was a period when you were unable to join SSFC..what was the reason that made your decision to join back the Falcons?

Back then, i was pretty much busy with school and other commitment. However, at a point of time, I missed soccer and craving for it. Yes, it does     sound like a pregnant lady craving for a type of food. Just by looking at how SSFC is growing each day, i made a decision to join back the falcons.

3) You are considered one of the “oldies” in the team..what do you think of SSFC progression in comparison from the time you left and when you joined back?

Before we left, SSFC was kind of disorganised. Without a proper coach, we don’t have the basic mindset. Every players have their own individual style of play. However, after i came back and was introduced to coach, i can see the brand new SSFC. We are much more organize and know what to do in every game or training for instance playing the right possession football rather then “void deck” soccer. We have well structure training programs, on or off the field to provide us not only the fundamentals but also the mentality.

In addition, i’m glad to bond with my team mates. They are just not my team mates, but close friends that i can just share anything in the world with them.

4) You seem to be able to switch postions at ease from left back to left wing…which is your preferred postion and why so?

It’s kind of tiring to switch from left back to left wing every now and then. I need to adapt to the different kind of play as quick as i could. For instance, i would be in a defensive mode when i’m playing the left back and vice versa. However, given the chance, i would prefer to play as a left winger as i am much confident and comfortable there.

Again, coach always want us to play at our best position and i always believe that wherever position that he put me at is the best for me.

5) What do you aim to achieve in your time here with the Falcons and where do you see SSFC 5 years from now?

In SSFC, players are not only taught on how to play soccer but we also taught on what is soccer. I hope to be able to have the knowledge of what soccer is all about. Not only practically but theory wise. In 5 years time, i do hope for SSFC to excel and be one of the top team in the amatuer level. I do also hope by that time, we would already start our way up to the islandwide league, to the next level.

6) A side topic..What’s you motto that best represents you?

I would say ‘One for all & all for one” I’m able to work best in a team rather then being alone. That’s how soccer should be.

Hi Remi. Firstly, welcome to Schwarz Star FC.
a) From the latest recruitment, you were recruited by Team Manager Brandon into Schwarz Star FC. Having played for a few other amateur soccer teams, what made you consider joining Schwarz Star F.C?

Having joined the club for about 2 months plus now, how are you settling in?

From the past teams that i joined, whether is it school team, or other amateur teams that i had played for, I learnt a lot from the ways of play and experienced playing at different positions which makes me ponder and learn what should be done or what shouldn’t be done in that position. Joining Schwarz Star is after serious thoughts of the team’s dream and coach experience plus the players’ fighting spirit which i feel during the 1st training.

Am settling in the club but still learning how each and every player’s playing styles are.. Each character’s are different and styles of playing are different as well. That is the main thing that i am still focusing on whether is it a first team player or a feeder team player.

b) What is it like playing for Schwarz Star FC’s feeder team so far?
Playing in the feeder team so far is slightly concern for me as i feel that some are just too quiet in the game. Voicing out to players is important as i feel that if you do not treat ur team mates as ur FRIENDS in combat, is like 1 v 11 instead. From training game that the 1st team players are playing, they shouted for each others. That is the first skill that makes a team strong.
c)What do you think can be done to improve the feeder team?
Improving for feeder team like communication on field, Defenders play together more often in order to string passes, Using passing to communicate, therefore no stray passes. Pass to feet means players near you, pass to left side of the receiver means right side of the receiver has a man on him and vice versa.
d) What do you hope to achieve during your time at the club, however long it may be?
Achieving for S.S is my main priority. I won’t put my personal glory for the seek of winning any games. As long as end results are win. I am happy that i know whether if i do play or i am at the bench, WIN is my priority.

e) Looking forward, do you think the Schwarz Star FC will be capable of challenging for honours in future seasons?
S.S is able to challenge for honours as long as the players are serious, whole team are serious and enjoy the game with passion. Simple saying is Glory = play with passion.

1) Hello Leon, you are one of the youngest players in Schwarz Star FC’s history. How does it feel to be part of SSFC and what actually attracted you to join SSFC?

Well, it’s been more than a year since I joined Schwarz Star and it’s been an honour to be one of the youngest players in the history of SSFC. SSFC has been a very brilliant team to me and means a lot too. It’s the first team I joined after stumbling upon it on a forum and I never regretted joining SSFC after my first training session.
Basically, the way SSFC is run has attracted me. The well-maintained website are a notch higher than the rest of the other teams I looked at and I knew this was a team who loves their football and share the same passion as me.
2) As a forward, who is your role model in Europe that you always look up to in terms of playing style? Is there any player in particular and why?

Being a forward, one of my role models in the European League is Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney. I like his passion for the game and the committment he shows in every match. Most important, his never-say-die attitude is what I like most. More often than not, he can change the complexion of a whole game and bring life to the team. Giggs is also another player I admire for his footballing brain, knowing when to do what.
That’s what I am trying to do. I give my all in every game and go all out to clinch a victory. I am willing to drop back and try to recover any lost balls but it’s probably much better if I do it less often as I am often drained of my energy with the aimless running. Therefore, I’m trying to learn how to make the right decisions at the right time while giving the team my all in every game.

3) What do you wish to see in the development of SSFC and having played in almost all of the feeder team games, What do you think of the team’s performance so far?

It’s indeed true that I had played in almost all of the feeder team games and I feel that the team is giving their all but maybe due to the team not knowing each other’s player styles well enough and also the lack of time, it has given the team less time to gel. I believe with more time, the team would gel and the results will soon come.
As a whole, the team has improved from the first game to the most recent game against Team Blas. Possession is kept more and the overlapping runs are occuring more often. The team are also becoming stronger mentally and are able to cope with the pressure of going behind in a game.

4) Being the youngest in the team, do you actually get any “special privileges” such as certain exemptions from certain components of training or do you still go through all aspects of it?

No way! There’s never any exemptions for me in training and I would never want any. I’m here to learn and to learn, I must practice. Also, I’m one of the youngest and therefore, should be able to cope with training. I want to give it all I got in training and know truly where I stand and allow Coach to identify my problems first and rectify it before matches come.

5) What vision do you see for the future of SSFC and how would you want to be part of this vision, say in about 5 years’ time?

I except SSFC to push their way up the leagues and hopefully make their way slowly but surely into the S-League. Also, it would be good for SSFC to start focusing on youngsters and maybe in 5 years’ time, there will be a youth team for SSFC. I personally would like to be part of the people contributing to SSFC’s success in games and as a team.

6) Finally in conclusion, we having seen you banging in goals of late in training sessions. Will we see a goal in competitive games very soon?

YES! It will definitely come soon. I often had narrow misses in matches which are a pity and it’s been disturbing that I haven’t scored in any competitive games for SSFC
. It’s been a regret that I couldn’t open my goalscoring account with the penalty I was given AGAINST mdis, but it has spurred me on for further successes. I’m targeting a goal in the upcoming match against Pinoy FC and I hope it would come that day.
