Schwarz Star FC…began a match against Team Avengers on a weekday game which is usually not a usual timing for SSFc and 1st time playing under floodlights..

Schwarzians..were eager to get things going after almost 2 months layoff from competitive soccer and rustiness were definitely going to be present but it was not tyhe case..

For the 1st 15 minutes of the half..SSFC was playing possession football and kept the ball switching from left to right with such ease that the opponents were left chasing shadows..

The tempo was upped with Isa, Rongshan, Melvin in Midfield..Shafiq/Azam running down e flanks..Kevin the stiker at the top and in defence.a new pairing of CBs Weiyang and Taufiq..with full backs Ishak and Fii..and finally GK Syafiq..

Wave and wave of attack was launched..and on the 20th min mar kKevin was subsitued out (coach keeping his energy for the later party of the match)..Faisal went in and on the 30th mark..lobbed the GK to give SSFC a 1-0 lead.

Kevin full of energy and raring to go went in to replace Melvin and his energy was there for all to see.His runnings and challenging for the ball were a torment to the opponents throughout the match.Azam was  brought down and s free kick was given…Kevin did a step over and Azam curled a beauty into goal to give the team 2-0…Brandon..was brough in as a cameo appearance in a striker’s role for Faisal and after a head down from Kevin after a poor goalkick from the opposing keeper.Brandon shot the ball that went slightly over the bar….Leonie was brought in to replace Shafiq whom was carrying an injury and Amir to replace Ishak..with Fii going into his preferred Left wing role..

In the Last min Dennis was brought in for kevin as kevin had just recovered from his chickenpox and coach didnt want to over exert him and wanted kevin to converse his energry..

The 2nd half started the same and SSFC conceded a penalty and was converted 2-1 in favour by the opponent..However..that didnt deter the Schwarzians efforts as Fii swung in an inch perfect cross only for big burly brandon to miss it with only the GK in goal..

Afterthat it was 1 way ticket with 6 lane soccer bing put into perfect practice.The next goal came fro mFarhan and that gave way to an own goal from the opponents to give Schwarzians a 4-1 lead but that was not enough and Azam gave the team anotehr goal..the 2nd on his night..Kevin showing his courage and strength..giving a bicycle kick that could have a goal coming out from it..At the final whistle..Schwarzians being true sportsmen shoke the hands of the oppoents and Team Avengers were also good and worthy opponents as soem small firnely discussions were held between both teams before calling off a night…Coach Kenneth was jumping up and down and and seen having an orgasm from the way the Schwarzians played..

Well done Schwarzians but this is only the beginning as we head back for training to continue to build on this victory.

As of 2 sundays ago, Coach decided to introduce a way for players old and new alike to start to know each other. Players were gathered into the centre and coach would pull out 2 players and they would need to state each other’s names..failure to do so..will lead to punishments such as push-ups(20) or running round the field.

Though it seems like alittle weird to intriduce it at this period..but better late than never as players are now enouraged to find out more about each other and hence improve communication on and off the field.

Communication has always been a problem as it would be very quiet during a game whenever SSFC took to the field..so Coach will be taken various methods to improve the teams’s communication

Schwarz Star FC ’s had 2 more players Chris and Yangsheng being enlisted  into national sevice..in additions to the other players whom are already serving the nation( Azam,Farhan,Taufiq,Salehin,Derek) Schwarz Star F.C would like to take this opportunity to wish them all the best and to take care of their health and cant wait to see them back stronger and fitter after going though National Service

Schwarz Star FC Challenge Cup Leg 2 ..got underway on the 21/6/08 at Orchid Park Secondary

The 1st Third :

Yangsheng gave Leonie’s team a lifeline when he grabbed a goal in the 7th min of play and with the aggregate at 5-4..and there is a possiblitity that Leonie’s team can give Yun’s team a run for their money.

The 2nd Third

Suddenly the tide change into Yun’s favour and within a 5 minute spacing..Farhan and Siva scored 2 goals and this game was again in Leonie’s balance when Yangsheng scored his 2nd goal

But..the game was almost good as over when farhan grabbed a 2nd goal for himself and a 2rd for Yun’s team and when Gerald got a red card for a 2nd bokkable offence and things were not looking good for Leonie’s team

In the final third

Goals galore for Yun’s team when Faisal, Shafiq and Helmi got the 3 goals to end the 2nd leg at 6-2

WITH THE FINAL AGGREGATE at 11-5.

Yun’s team were declared the winners for the Schwarz Star GC Challenge Cup 2008

The 3 Moments of Football
(1) Possession of ball
(2) The Time during change of Possession
(3) Defending Without bal

These 3 ‘moments’ in football can be closely linked to the 2 principles of attack and principles of defense that I had introduced during 3rd June 2007 session.

The whole team has to understand the principles as a whole to have good tactical teamwork. Remember the principles well!

(1) Possession of ball (Principles of Attack)

-1- Width
> Creating space for team mates to pass to
> Isolate opposing defenders by forcing them to spread apart

-2- Depth / Support
> Create ‘attacking’ space into opponents territory
> Provide support by moving into space

-3- Mobility
> Movement off the ball to create space
> Awareness

-4- Penetration
> Moving the players and/or ball into goal scoring positions

-5- Improvisation
> Individual skills that results in positive consequence

(3) Defending Without ball (Principle of Defense)

-1- Delay
> Prevent opponent from developing play in immediate stage of play (first defender)

-2- Cover
> Move in positions that provides cover to the first defender in case he is beaten

-3- Balance
> All other team mates have to provide cover to the defensive block by shifting or covering space

-4- Concentration (numbers)
> The whole team recovers and retreat
> Forms a tight playing field without allowing opponents space in dangerous positions

-5- Patience / Control
> Tackle ONLY when there is a good chance of retrieving the ball
> Do not be left for ‘dead’
> Frustrate the opponents by destroying their play or forcing them to play back

This ‘Discover Playermaker’s Programme’ was developed in 2006 as my personal methodical framework for coaching football.

The programme is only made meaningful through the ‘Discovering Playmakers Evaluation’ of an individual’s proficiency. While there is an element of competitiveness and comparison, the ultimate objective is for the player to know for himself, his strength and weakness.

Schwarz Star players will be evaluated in the coming months. While 2 components from the original evaluation have been removed for Schwarz Star, it is adequate at the moment for the players to realise what he is good at and what needs improvement.

Attached is also the assessment of players who had earlier taken certain aspect of this evaluation. Only players who had taken the theory and match rating components will be eligible for any awards that Schwarz Star management may decide on awarding at a later date.

In the meantime, go through the discovering playmaker’s evaluation procedures and scoring grades. Have a good discovery.
