On a cold and rainy day, Schwarz Star F.C was up against one of the most decorated teams in their 4 year history… G.A.C was a team made up of ex Prine League players and it was interesting how the Schwarzians would approach this match.

1st Half.

Schwarzians were not over-rawed by the occasion and took a very risky decision to leave Azam ,Thava, Razmy and Taufiq out for the 1st half..(It was a tactical decision)..

When the whistle blew for the start…Schwarzians took the game to their opponents..controlling the pace of the game and passing well as a unit…

With Isa, Melvin and Rongshan the middle of the park,the opponents had no way through…

The opposition GK was soon 1 v1 with Yun whom displaced the ball into the corner of the goal to give Schwarzians a 1-0 lead..With the Schwarzian defence in tight form..the opposition was only restricted to long shots and even when they got past the defence.. Syafiqthe on-form GK was on hand to save the shots…The opposition had a corner and from the resulting corner , Amir attempted a header clearance but was seemed destined for an own goal but Syafiq pulled off the save of the season and keep Schwarz Star F.C in the game…at the end of the 1st half Schwarz Star F.C led 1-0…the betting books were thrown out of the window!!

2nd half..in came..Thava for Melvin( to add more agression to the midfield,Azam for Amir on e right mid, Taufiq for Leonie in CB role)..this was in view of the preparation of attacks from G.A.C

When the 2nd half started…true to predictions..G.A.C started to pour forward in wave after wave in attack…with their crisp passing and excellent wing play from the opponents..The equalise came from a resultant wing play and was Schwarz Star F.C going to crumble under the pressure?

another great tactical decision was to bring in Razmy for Halim and wit hFii back at left back..it worked wonders..Razmy caused confusion on the left wing and Schwarzians  were nt going down without a fight..

Azam terrorised the right wing and had afew shots saved by the opposing GK..Azam swined in a crossed and Faisal side volleyed into the GK..this was a sign of things to come..

Thava had a shot saved off the line by the opposing defender..

Finally…Razmy brought on a swinging and teasing cross which Faisal toe poked into goal….2-1 in favour of SSFC..

Kevin..was brought in for a 7 minute return from his ankle injury and was a torment to the opposing defence with his runs and jumps..Kevin had a brilliant opportuinity to wrap up the gamebut side footed teh shot wide.

The opponents poured in numbers but were unable to find the equaliser and SSFC held on to a famous victory…

Team Manager Brandon was full of praise for the team and cautioned the team that there are areas of improvement..A gd 2-1 win for the Schwarzians and credit to the opponent for a wonderful game..

On this day that Singapore celebrates her 43rd birthday..Schwarz Star FC…has its very own birthday  coming up later in the month of august..

As we all still remember when we were young we would always recite the national pledge day in day out..

“Regardless of  race,Language or religion..to build a democratic society”..Schwarz Star F.C till this day and 4 years on..still believes in racial harmony which does explain why SSFC is not just based on a single religion/race in its selection of players but instead its made up of different races,religions and nationalities which has brought us closer through these many years..

Schwarz Star FC has come a long way from where we started our roots at Marina Bay open field to our current the Falcons Arena(Alexandra Hospital Field)…..As we have matured through the years we have also seen many players grow and the bonding has gone stronger..it seemed like yesterday when we first started out as strangers on the Marina Field to now best friends on/off the field..

As we head off into the future…we will have many obstacles ahead of us but only throught determination,unity and passion will bring us to further heights which we aim to achieve..

On this day..Schwarz Star FC would like to Wish Singapore A Happy and Prosperous Brithday and many more wonderful years ahead..
