With the lastest update that the EFL season ending last week..

Many teams are on the rush to bloster their squads by signing new players in preparation for the new season..

Team Manager Brandon and Head Coach Kenneth are keeping the cards close to their hearts as to whom they will be recruiting..Some rumours have gone around that Brandon is Re- recruiting Sham(Ex CB ) and Azmi(Winger) both of whom played in SSFC colours but due to NS/family commmittment pulled out..There is also sources having stated that Ex Captain Marvin will be back to play for SSFC..

A source quoted Team Manager Brandon:” There’s no rush to sign in new players as I have full confidence in my current League squad with support from the Competitive Team to challenge the big boys come September 2009 and do the club proud”)

Having just turned down a lucrative offer to register SSFC to  play in the Shanghai 2 day competition in March 2010 , SSFC seems serious in getting ready for their start to the EFL Division 2 in September 2009 with a Team Training Camp and training  being intensified.

Friendlies are also being -pre arranged and there are negotiations underway to try and slot in 1-2 games with the Champions of the Playsports/ Cosmoleague

Schwarz Star FC VS Trans-tractors United

Schwarz Star FC(Competitive Team) came into this match without any wins recorded as yet in
2009 and the only result they had that didnt result in a loss was a draw with Pinoy FC
With CB Satnam/ DM Nas/ St being unable to make it for the game, it didnt look
promising Azam,Kevin from the League Team came to lend their assistance.
The first half started with SSFC in control of the game and for the rarity seen in most
games..passing was simple ..with possession in mind and the wingers(Halim/Kokhui) sticking
to the lines.
With both sides creating chances..it was SSFC taking the initiative and seemed more likely
to score first..
However,2 goals that were “supposedly” about to go be conceded by the Falcons..was kept out
by the Falcons GK(Wesley) which hit his back and bounced to safety..
The 1st half ended 0-0…plenty to play for

2nd half started with some changes with Azam coming in as RW and Faisal in CM role.

The half started with SSFC pressing and possession play.Azam and Yen combining well to
occupy the right side of the field and a debut for Nick whom was given the forward role.
The Falcons poured forward and with an interchange between Azam n Yen,,with the killer
pass from Azam into Yen’s path gave him a wonderful opportunity to blast into the opponent’s
net..1-0 to the Falcons.
After that goal, the opponents poured forward in search of the equaliser but failed to do
so..but that gave the Falcons alot of room and space to attack as their defences went AWOL
time and time again..The Falcons failed to capitalise on numerous chances by Nick,Yen,Azam
and Jeremy.Satnam took a nasty knock and hand to come off with Kevin switching to CB with
Uncle Leonie.
SSFC’s defence held firm with Kevin/Ishak/Leonie/Halim all having a great defensive display
When the final whistle blew,it was a win for the Falcons and a victory they will savour for
some time.
Final Score: Schwarz Star FC 1 (sCORER :Yen) vs Trans-tractors United 0

14th June Schwarz Star FC vs Happy Feet FC

It was a clash of the 1st placing and 2nd placing in the Assessment League. With lastest news that Questra Vipers losing 1-0 to Hibs, Schwarz Star FC knew this was a golden opportunity to close the gap.

With many players being unavailable due to NS commitments for the top of the table clash..2 players Nasriq and Faishah was called upon to assist in this match.

With everyone warming up and getting ready for battle, The Falcons were ready to do battle..

The 1st half was a cagey affair with both teams cancelling each other out in the middle of the park and the Falcons restricting the Penguins to long range shots.A long throw in from the Falcons led to a disarray in the Penguins penalty box and failing to clear the ball led to Siva pouncing and scoring the 1st goal. After which, Siva had a lopping shot just hitting the cross bar with the GK beaten..

With minutes of the clock left for the first half, Thava shot a freekick against the top left corner of the goal.

Both teams went into the break with the Falcons leading 1-0…they knew it was far from over as the Penguins had a reputation of scoring last minute equalisers..especially against Vipers and Team Orange

The 2nd half started and within minutes of the re-start, the Penguins got the equaliser they wanted from an inswinging cross from which their player tapped in.

This gave the Falcons a kick in the butt and within minutes of the equaliser..and the Penguins failing to clear their goal led to Kevin scoring with a thumping shot past the GK..2-1 to the Falcons..

But the Falcons joy was short-lived when the Penguins crossed a teasing cross from the right and with the Falcons CB trying to prevent an own goal stepped on the ball and the opposing striker tapped the ball in.

It was a tight affair with 10 minutes remaining , the Penguins dealt a killer blow to the Falcons hopes with a last minute glancing header which left Nasriq rooted to the ground.

The Falcons poured forward in search of the equaliser but it never came..3-2 was the final score.

The game was pulsating affair and was great entertainment value for the neutral.

Final Score: Schwarz Star FC 2   Happy Feet FC 3

Dear Schwarz Star FC

Among other football leagues in Singapore, you have chosen to participate in Equatorial Football League and I thank you for that.

For the past six months, we have been monitoring Schwarz Star FC with great interest as they are well organised with a proper hierarchy and has a well balanced financial status. Like EFL, match officials and opponents have nothing but praises for Schwarz Star FC.

We recognised the efforts of team manager, Brandon Sng, and coach, Kenneth. Their sheer passion and commitment resonates in the air and create tension to opponents when their players march onto the pitch. The discipline and quality of the players are far beyong expectations. We have no doubt that the management of Schwarz Star FC has the ability to enhance and tap into the vast potential of the individual players, thus forming an almost invincible squad. Indeed, Schwarz Star FC has risen to set a new benchmark for EFL.

We at EFL, have no doubt, that Schwarz Star FC is an asset. We are proud to welcome Schwarz Star Football Club into Equatorial Football League!

Match Report Against Rebels

Weather: Sunny

Location: Canbera Secondary School

Opponent: Rebels

Schwarz Star kicked off the match for the clash of 3rd and 4th of the table. Schwarz Star passed the ball confidently as usual before quickly conceding a throw in on the right. Rebels though playing with 2 players less, took a quick throw down the flank. A quick square pass found the Rebel striker in space. He balloons his shot from 25 yards high and wide. SSFC continued with their usual passing game. A weighted pass found Amir, a rookie as a right winger, tearing down the flank, but his cross ended behind the goal.

SSFC continue to dominate and control the tempo of the game restricting the opponents to long shots in the 8th and 13th minute. SSFC only managed to have a shot at goal on the 15th minute only to be denied by the keeper. Leonie, under pressure with possession, tried to square a pass to Isa, only for Rebel striker pounce on the wayward pass bearing down on goal only to shoot wide.

A pass to the right flank found Amir. He put in a low cross only to be deflected to the feet of Siva who toe poked for an open goal. Restart after 25 minutes. SS continue to play their usual possession game. The ball came and went with Rebels restricted to long range half chances. Half-time.

The match restarted with Rebels kicking off the second half. Rebels were also playing their passing game but limited to long range efforts. SSFC stroked the ball around patiently, waiting for gaps to appear. A harmless Rebel’s clearance confused Isa and Keeper Yun. Rebel pounce on the confusion to equalize.

Rebels, knowing down by 2 players began to play keep ball. SSFC closed down every player with the ball. Fiee knocked a brilliant ball down the left flank for Chris to chase, beating 1 defender and delivers a hanging cross from the bye-line only for Siva to head over for a goal kick. SSFC were not quite done as yet. Kevin drilled the ball to the right for Yen who was out on the right flank. Yen delivered a cross only for a defender to head out what looks like a certain goal. SSFC had much possession to boast but little penetration. Another brilliant ball on the 70th minute to Chris out on the left resulted in another cross from the bye-line which the defender headed out but only to Yen who was waiting outside the box. With a good first touch, Yen tees up for a shot into the top right corner. Goal!!! Celebrations went wild for SSFC.

Rebels restarted with a quick overlap on the right, Rebels shape to shape from distance but squared the ball instead, Taufiq made a last ditch attempt to dispossess the opponent. Freekick to SSFC. Rebel’s striker was furious with the decision and run to barge into the Referee. Left with no choice, the Referee had to show the player a red card. From then on, SSFC continue to relentlessly forage into the opponent’s half. A quick overlap on the left by Leonie, found him in space with a lofted pass for Siva to latch on which was cleared by a defender. SSFC continue to maintain possession. A quick through ball found Reggie with a little bit of space on the 85th minutes, with a drop of his left shoulder, Reggie completely took his defender out of the equation. With a strong right foot drive which the keeper had no chance against, Reggie scored his first ever goal for SSFC. SSFC had all but sewn up the game.

5 minutes and whatever injury time the referee is going to award, Rebels throw everything including the kitchen at SSFC. SSF defended with vigour and resolve. Rebel feinted SSFC and delivered a final shot at goal which was way wide of the goal. Final Score SSFC 3 Rebels 1

Player Interview: Yun

02.06.09

> > >Posted by
Today, schwarzstarfc.com has caught up with a pioneer of Schwarz Star FC, Ching Zhi Yun Ian, better known to us as Yun. Having been one of the pioneers of Schwarz Star FC in its starting year, let’s see what he has to say in this interview.

1) Hi Yun. You are one of the pioneers of SSFC since 2004. What do you think of its development so far from the time you joined till now?

Thinking back the early days,  we had to travel to Marina to kick about on a pitch of raw field with tall grasses and mimosa. That’s “Passion” for soccer I should say. We developed from “nothing”.. Now we have our own home ground, coach and committee staff leading the team, consider remarkably well done for an amateur team.

2) You have played as a GK,CB,Winger,CM and even striker…so which is the position that you want to make your own and why?

I just discovered the supporting striker role to fit into the current team. I lack the composure and control to play in the center of the pack, I also tend to “drift”  from my position. By being up there, it minimizes the drifting factor and gives the team some good defending right from the top with my speed and aggression. I have yet to prove myself worthy of that position but soon it’ll come.

3) As the match coordinator for the team, what is your job like in the team? Maybe you can elaborate more on it?

As the title spells it, I arrange matches for the team. I also touch on administrative issues like player’s particulars, match records etc.

4) What would be your wildest dream for SSFC? It may or may not happen but what would you wish for SSFC to be? Maybe the next Manchester City with a multi-millionaire owner? It can be anything in your wildest fantasy.

Wildest Dream? Schwarz Star to play in the National Football League before I retire.

5) On a more serious note, where do you see SSFC from now till in say, year 2015? What would be happening during that time in SSFC?

Year 2015 would be a ideal year for us to progress to NFL. From now till 2015 we would have a few season to test ourselves in EFL. Hopefully we would get promoted after the 1st year in Div 1 and try to play our way up to top of Premier Division.

6) As part of of the senior committee member, how’s it like working with the rest of the committee like Leonie,Kenneth,Kevin,Brandon, who are all different in their own styles of doing things?

Basically we have the same goal and passion. That makes it easy for us to communicate. Only at times you have to stand the nagging from Brandon.
